Cleopatra's Fan Block
Learn how to organize your strips and successfully piece a Cleopatra's Fan Block. See the quilt pictured or come by Treble Makers to get an idea of the fabric color choices appropriate for the block. Once you learn the technique, you can create a table runner or any other project using the Cleopatra fan block.
Requirements:
Poster board 10.5" x 24" (any color)
Strips (2) of background fabric, A,C, F - 13.5" x 5" inches
Strips (2) of fabric I, E, G 16.5" x 4" inches
Strips (2) of fabric I, H, D, B 21.5" x 3.5" inches
Small packet of sticky notes
Straight pins
Sewing machine in good working order
Thread
Black Marker
Stiletto
Seam Ripper
Scissors
Strips must be cut by start of class. Poster board must be ready to cut at the start of class. Strips of fabric will not be cut further until class since the must be marked.
If you have a design board 12 x 12 inches, please bring it so you can place pieces as you need them, however, the poster board will also help you.
Please check the diagram of the block so you have the correct positioning of the fabric. There is a picture of a finished quilt or you may go by the Treble Maker's shop to see the color placement.
